The Institute of Human Virology’s new podcast, Going Viral: From Baltimore to the World, is now live with four episodes—and more on the way through Spring 2026 with a brief break in January and February. The series spotlights the people and ideas shaping infectious disease research, patient care, and community health, while showing how Baltimore’s stories resonate globally. So far, we’ve heard from:
Dr. Sarah Kattakuzhy on Baltimore’s opioid epidemic and the real-world impact of harm reduction.
Dr. Poonam Mathur on the evolution of HIV treatment into a chronic, manageable condition.
Dr. Kapil Saharia on the high-stakes challenges of infection and immunity after organ transplants.
Walker Weinstein, RN on IHV’s Jacques Initiative and its compassionate, status-neutral approach to HIV, hepatitis, and gender-affirming care.
New episodes will continue into next year, and we’re looking for more voices to feature. If you’d like to share your expertise—or how IHV and Baltimore have shaped your career—please reach out to jennifer.gonzales@ihv.umaryland.edu
