Dr. Robert Redfield Named Chair of International Subcommittee

Robert R. Redfield - Click for Biography(BALTIMORE, MD) – President Bush recently named Dr. Robert Redfield, associate director and co-founder of the Institute of Human Virology and Head of Infectious Diseases at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, as the chair of the International Subcommittee of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA).

Dr. Redfield is joined by fellow Baltimore expert Dr. Robert Bollinger, professor of Infectious Disease & International Health at Johns Hopkins University.

The Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA) provides advice, information, and recommendations to the Secretary regarding programs and policies intended to promote effective prevention of HIV disease, and to advance research on HIV disease and AIDS. The role of the Council is solely advisory. The Secretary provides the President with copies of all written reports provided to the Secretary by the Advisory Council.

IHV is a center of the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute (UMBI) and affiliated with the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
