Dr. Reisler is an active faculty member contributing to clinical care, teaching, and clinical research. He currently provides both in-patient and out-patient clinical care to HIV infected individuals at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He played an instrumental role in assisting the IHV in becoming fully integrated into the NIH sponsored Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Group (AACTG) and actively participates on numerous AACTG protocol teams and committees. Also, he has assumed a leadership role as a primary investigator for an institute sponsored clinical research trial with a focus on treatment experienced patients with multi drug resistant virus. In addition, he is an investigator in the Institute's Solid Organ Transplantation in HIV protocol which is a multi-site protocol sponsored by the NIH.
Previously, Dr. Reisler worked as a medical officer at the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Division of AIDS, Therapeutics Research Program, HIV Research Branch, Bethesda, Maryland. While at NIH, he worked closely with the three primary therapeutic clinical trials networks, the AACTG, the Terry Beirn Community Programs for Clinical Research on AIDS (CPCRA), and the Acute HIV Infection and Early Disease Research Program (AIEDRP). Also, while at NIH, he received Staff Recognition Awards both in 2000 and 2001 and served on the DAIDS Preclinical Therapeutics Development Committee (DPTDC), the NIH Inter-Institute AIDS Drug Discovery & Development Committee, and the NIAID Working Group on Antimicrobial Resistance- making recommendations to the joint CDC/NIH/FDA Anti Microbial Resistance Task Force.
Dr. Reisler has authored and co-authored a number of publications and abstracts and serves as a reviewer for the journal AIDS and Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety. He is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the American Society for Microbiology. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
