Andre Perisse, M.D., is a research fellow in IHV’s Fogarty AIDS International Training Research Program. He returned to Brazil from Baltimore in early 2003 to begin data collection for his doctoral dissertation, “Influence of Personal Network Structure on an Individual’s Risk for Acquiring HIV Infection.”
Dr. Perisse successfully navigated the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the University of Maryland Institutional Review Boards and received approval for his research protocol. Dr. Perisse also wrote and was awarded NIH funding for his research. He is named as co-investigator on a FIRCA grant titled “Ego Network-Based HIV Risk Assessment for Vaccine Trials”.
