Timothy C. Moynahan is a life-long Connecticut resident, born in Waterbury in 1940. He was educated at Sacred Heart High School before attending Providence College. In addition to earning a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1961, he helped the Providence Friars win the 1961 NIT basketball tournament and become collegiate national champions. Three years later he earned a law degree from Catholic University in Washington, DC.

Upon returning to Connecticut, he became state co-chairman of Citizens for the Re-election of Senator Thomas Dodd and began his law practice in Waterbury. His practice has since grown to become one of the premier law firms in the area emphasizing personal injury, commercial litigation, criminal defense, real estate, banking law, and business and commercial transactions.

In addition to a distinguished legal career, Attorney Moynahan has dedicated a significant amount of time to giving back to the community. He currently is a member of the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Special Olympics and the Palace Theater Group, a non-profit organization aimed at revitalizing the historic Palace Theater in downtown Waterbury. In the past he has served as the former town attorney for the Town of Prospect, treasurer for the City of Waterbury, minority leader of the Board of Alderman and as regional coordinator for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a member of the Mayor's Commission on Diversity and Integration, as well as a member of numerous other civic or charitable groups.

He has been on the boards of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association as well as speaking at law schools in Lahore and Karachi Pakistanc under the auspices of the United States Information Agency on the topics of Bill of Rights, A Free Society, and the United States Constitution. He was also a panelist at the Fifth Annual Convention of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee on the topic of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the First Amendment.
