The unifying theme of our research is to use the tools of chemistry to delineate the structure and function relationships for and to elucidate mechanisms of action of proteins.
Currently, we are focused on studying: (1) immunological molecules such as defensins, chemokines and psoriasin; (2) HIV-1 matrix and capsid proteins and HTLV-1 protease; (3) the anti-apoptotic protein survivin; (4) the somatomedin B domain of human vitronectin; (5) anthrax lethal factor.
Our long-term research interests lie in the development of peptide/protein therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and infectious diseases.
